Diving Australia
Diving Australia hosted a national competition in Adelaide, Australia. We were approached to capture the weekend and showcase the skills of the up and coming divers as well as the atmosphere of the event. We delivered a daily wrap video each day alongside a full event recap video.
The brief
Diving Australia brought a national competition to Adelaide and needed the weekend captured as it happened. Two things had to come through: the technical standard of the divers, many of them early in their careers, and the atmosphere of a national meet, the crowd, the poolside, the waiting between rounds. The complication was timing. Coverage that lands a week after a competition has missed the moment it was meant to serve, so the work had to turn around while the event was still running.
The approach
We covered the full weekend on site and cut as we went, which is a different discipline from shooting a competition and editing it afterwards. Each day was filmed, selected and assembled the same day so a wrap could go out before the next session started. Shooting to a known edit shape rather than gathering everything and deciding later is what makes that possible. Alongside the daily coverage we were building the longer recap in parallel, so the strongest material served both the fast turnaround and the finished film.
What we delivered
A wrap video for each day of competition, delivered same day for Diving Australia to publish while the event was still live, and a full recap film covering the national skills competition as a whole. The daily wraps carried the results and the energy in a form built for social. The recap is the piece that outlives the weekend: one film the organisation can use to represent the event, the athletes and the standard of the competition long after the pool has emptied.
